Just another day in the neighborhood just another day around the way I found and other incredible artist who reps Harlem to the fullest. 

I have known Giacana for quite some time now and have had the opportunity to watch his music and sound evolve.  In addition to his growth, I have also had the pleasure of watching him perform live and let me tell you, this man can rock a crowd; no matter if it's a small intimate group or a crowd full of people this man can deliver. So without any further or due let me introduce you to Giacana.

Giacana (33) born in East Harlem raised in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx is one of New York borns most promising up and coming hip hop artist and actor delivering an action pack performance in the New York based Web-series #one2four http://youtu.be/D21mdKXvaM4 

Giacana's "CANA" role in #One2fourwebseries can be compared to the likes of other hood villains such as Tupac Shakur's "Bishops" role in Ernest R. Dickersons 1991 blockbuster (JUICE) , Oshe "Ice Cube" Jacksons "DoeBoy" role in John Singletons (Boyz in da hood) or more recent Camrons (Rico) role in (PAID IN FULL). To top it all off Giacana is an interesting and gripping artist to watch and not to mention his "TOO COOL 4 SCHOOL" single off the #One2foursoundtrack (currently available for listen via https://soundcloud.com/giacana/too-cool-for-school-produced-by-rob-dinero has a beet/flow combination that fulfills the listeners appetite for substance as well as new age today energy! On verse 2 Giacana displays a detailed description story about his self proclaimed opinion on the death of his respected birthplace Harlem and the downfall of the rappers from there in-which he proceeded I.e Mase, Camron, Pdiddy, Dame Dash ect just to name a few concluding with the fact that and insinuating that Jay-Z may have perpetuated the wreckage of a Then dominating Harlem empire!

Trevell Gerald Coleman better known by his stage name G. Dep is a hip hop artist who originated from Harlem, New York City. He became a member of Bad Boy Records in 1998 and released his debut album "Child of the Ghetto" in 2001. His sophomore album "Ghetto Legend" was released on September 7, 2010 with Famous Records.

After meeting with Sean Combs in 1998, G. Dep was signed to a $350,000, five-album deal with Bad Boy Records. The following year he appeared on two songs on Black Rob's 1999 debut album "Life Story". G. Dep released his debut solo album "Child of the Ghetto" in 2001, which peaked at #106 on Billboard 200 and #23 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Single "Special Delivery" from the album peaked at #59 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and #3 on Hot Rap Singles.  G. Dep was subsequently dropped from Bad Boy Records. 

On December 15, 2010, Coleman walked into 25th Precinct to turn himself in after he confessed to a cold case crime of a man to which was  murdered in  Queens back in 1993. Coleman had attempted to confess twice before, but was previously considered to be under the influence of drugs and incoherent.
Currently G Dep id incarcerated at the Elmira Correctional Facility. Coleman told in an interview that he confessed because the case weighed on him and he was "just trying to get things right between himself and God". Coleman claimed that he did not know that his victim died.

Since Coleman has been incarcerated, he has had the opportunity to self reflect as well as write. Him and I have had the opportunity to correspond and I can honestly say his spirit and motivation is strong. Being behind those walls will not stop him from being heard by the world.

In life we all make mistakes but we all have the ability to change the course of our future, G Dep is a testament to that fact.

It has been a minute, but know you have not been forgotten.  In the next little while you will get accustom and familiar with artists, producers, creatives, and innovators that all make up the world of music.  Today is another introduction...

As of lately, I have had the opportunity to listen to more creative geniuses in the world of music.  This man is no exception. 

MYKO has been tearing up the R&B music scene since 2008.  His smooth and lyrical sound is unlike no other. Being from Atlanta, GA MYKO has had the opportunity to see what he can offer the music industry.  As a result he got the immediate attention of Rick Ross Music Group who has seen that MYKO can deliver.  With his newest release "Don't Lie", gaining more and more popularity, especially among the ladies, its clear to see that MYKO is serious about painting that canvas with his lyrical masterpiece!

Currently MYKO has worked with artists such as Future and Jason Derulo.  In addition, his track "Life Ain't Fair" has been featured on the highly anticipated documentary "Crack in the System".

His vibe and style has in incredible energy and is original to what music represents.  I compare it to that fresh white t, new jeans, and a pair of clean tims or white sneaks.  Can't go wrong!  That's MYKO!

I came across C Stylez a few years ago.  At first I didn't know what to expect, as I often get hit with so many messages in a day. I came to find out that C Stylez had a remarkable background in working with artists from all over the globe.  He was featured in MAFIA MAGAZINE which I was also featured in.  Once we started talking, C Stylez introduced me to COKE BOYS SOUTH artists as well as COKE BOYS SOUTH DJ'S.  In addition to that C Stylez put in a good word to International Wig (Coke Boys & Coke Boys south DJ).  End result was C Stylez asking if I would like to host a mixtape with Wig called LADIES CHOICE R&B V 4 EDITION.

Upon getting more acquainted with C Stylez I really got the chance to see his work ethic. He goes hard for those he believes in and is loyal to his word.  I call him KING whenever I get the chance to speak with him.  He is a black man who represents his culture and heritage to the fullest.  He's also very determined and loyal to the game that is hip hop. This is ladies and gentlemen is Robert Jackson aka C Stylez

Robert "C Styles" Jackson 11 was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 9th , 1980 to African American and Black foot INDIAN AND IRISH DESCENT Parents.  With one younger  brother and Five extended Siblings.  In 2000 he wrote for Snoop Dogg the track "Unified" Remix w Slick Rick.  Also he wrote hooks for Remo Tha Beatmaker.  In 2003 he produce n. Direct n host his, own Tv Show in NYC called Up and Cummin Entertainment.  In 2005 he produced two dvds The Legends of The Game DVD with Dj Ron G and Step your Game DVD with Cavlar. It caused a Buzz throughout the East Coast.  Img Recordings hollad at me to become an Intern and then an A&R.  I signed MC Shan, Mysterious, Mr. Cheeks and Herb Mcgruff to the label.  I resigned in 2009 because my Brother passed away. Then in 2012 My Mother passed away from Cancer.  I became Senior Marketing Director for Cokeboys South in March of 2013.  Music is my passion.

I was introduced to DJ WIG quite some time ago through our mutual friend Robert Jackson aka C Stylez of Coke Boys South.

Upon being introduced, DJ Wig and I have engaged in many conversations surrounding music as well as production. In 2014,C Styles suggested that Wig an I do a mixtape with one another it was called "LADIES CHOICE R&B VOL 42".  For me this was a huge accomplishment, however, there is still a lot I have to learn in terms of putting a mixtape together.

Wig is not only a phenomenal DJ but he also has goals and aspirations he would like to enhance in order to further his career.  He is passionate about what he does and is humble with every experience and challenge he faces while in this industry. This is just an introduction of my colleague and friend DJ INTERNATIONAL WIG!! 

Dj International Wig Preston Bell was born in New York.  At a young age, his father supported his DJ ambitions, by allowing him to play his albums on a daily basis.  The albums covered various genres such as Disco, Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, Swing Music, Ballroom, Reggae, Jazz and more. In middle school, Wig and his friends created a Dance Hall sound system called, "Black Heart".  They would participate in DJ battles, and was also booked for parties, and clubs. In addition to DJing his cousin Rob Bell, and Super Producer Jah Born stared a company Called Galaxy 9 Productions.  The duo were The Producers For Eyrikah Badu's  smash hit "On and On".  This was when we really got a first class taste of production, and Studio life.  By 1997, DJ Wigs had a passion for Audio Engineering.  To perfect his craft, he moved to Jamaica to study Audio Engineering, and would soon work at Anchor Recording Studios.  Wig dedication to perfecting his craft, led to him recording music for Reggae's Biggest acts such as: Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Luciano, and many more.  With his quality mixing, Wigs kept those top acts as clients, and always worked hard to better himself in Audio engineering field. In 2001, Wigs returned to the U.S. by way of Houston, TX.  He began as a relief DJ for Houston's DJ Sun, and DJ Chill.  Shortly afterwards, Wigs worked his way up the ranks to begin DJing at some of Houston's top nightclubs, including Pink Monkey, Maxx's, Shadowbar, and Level.  Wigs had learned the art of DJing, and knew the right songs to play to set the tone at these nightclubs.  He would become a regular with the club-owners, and local promoters.  By 2003, he met MTV's "Making the Band" artist,  "Mysterious". He soon became her Dj, as they toured various states as she promoted her upcoming mixtape. During this time, Wigs still worked at his Audio Engineering, and eventually worked in studios again. He was able to produce an unreleased song called "Ryde Tonight" by Mysterious featuring Mega Rap Star "Jay-Z". By 2004, Wigs was hosting mixtapes for some of the top hip hop acts such as: Niki Minaj, Jim Jones, Zane, Bangem Smurf, Sun of G-Unit, Rick Ross, Dice, and 40 Glock.  His most notable and breakthrough mixtape, The Rick Ross assisted, "Feed The Wolves Mixtape ", instantly received a strong online buzz and opened up more opportunities for Wigs to host mixtapes.  On a video clip, 50 Cent opened a package containing DJ Wiggs artwork for "Feed The Wolves".  He eventually done mixtapes for well known acts, as well as aspiring artists. Today, Wigs resides in Miami, Florida.  He's still Djing, and will also Is Doing a Series of Mix Tape For Badboy/MMG Group Artist French Montana Division Called Coke Boys South Mix Tape With His Parther Robert [C-styles Jackson -Senor Marketing Director Of Coke Boys

Just Another Day...."Killing Black Men Is Now Legal"

Wow!  It's been a while hasn't it?  A lot has been happening in the world of hip hop but that isn't the topic for today.

Last night, December 3, 2014, I caught wind that the officer who had put a choke hold on Eric Garner was not indicted by the grand jury.  A few weeks prior Darren Wilson, who shot and killed Mike Brown, was also not indicted.  Do you see a pattern here? It has become very clear that the black man has become the new target and it's now hunting season. 

In 2013, 5000 African American and Latinos have been killed by police. That's in 2013!!! The stats since then have jumped at an alarming rate. Now, I have to make one thing very clear, Caucasians have also been a target of police brutality as well, however, African Americans make up for the majority.

 

In America there is an estimated 1.4 million gangs that are throughout the United States alone. The question I would ask is are the police, CIA, FBI, Military, and other government jurisdictions included in that 1.4 mill? If you look at what gangs are said to commonly do you would then see similarities. The reason why I bring this up is because with every gang they have a target, with every gang they have an agenda or mission, with every gang there is some who tries to get rid of evidence or has someone to take the fall... In these cases these officers are being protected by their top dog, they hide behind their colours and are protected because they wear them. They are devoted to the badge, they will not do anything to dishonor it even if it means not holding each other accountable. 

As I sit here right now I feel empty.  Knowing my black brothers continue to go through this fight makes me angry. I feel a sense of loss for every life that has been taken. 

I believe that there are other methods to using excessive force. We are NOT animals we are human beings. We were once kings and queens and even then people worked hard at robbing us of that. 

My fear, right now, is that this genocide will continue until the black race is wiped out COMPLETELY! It's bad enough that our people kill and hurt one another but now we have this to add to the struggle. It's like that double edged sword no matter what side your on your gonna get sliced. Our anger, our frustrations, at this time stems from a lack of leadership. We have lost our voice and those who used to speak for us. Not even hip hop speaks up for what is unjust anymore!!! Because of this we have no hope, no one to turn to, no one to tell us everything's gonna be ok. We are alone in this fight.  Tupac said that when people feel a sense of hopelessness, and that their voices aren't heard, they will react.

I pray that things change IMMEDIATELY. We are running out of time! I have said this many times and will say it once again, What is the best way to create a NEW WORLD ORDER?  Wipe out those who will stand up against it!!!

This is only the beginning of what could be the end!!!

Just Another Day.... "Lots Of Great Interviews!!!"

Today is another one of those days, a day of self reflection and reminiscing about all the interviews I have done within the past two years of me doing radio. Three of those interviews have stuck out in my mind, Freeway Rick Ross, Billy Danze from M.O.P, and Gregory Cross.

Let me start with Billy. 

I never would have thought I would have the opportunity to interview a hip hop legend. From day one Billy has taught me what the hip hop game was and what its now become. I remember him telling me about Raps United Nations and how the project provides independent artists a platform in which they could potentially obtain major exposure. The idea of being a "Superhero" indicated to me that he is one of the few well known artists who promote and nurture new talent that is coming from various countries throughout the world.

Moving on to Freeway.
I have come to know Freeways story for a few years now but nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to hear from him directly. If there was one person who made me nervous, it was him. I will never forget the day, my nerves were shot as I knew this was the BIGGEST interview of my radio career. Freeway confirmed my beliefs about the government and what they have done to destroy his life along with the  black community. Freeway provided me with insight in addition to ways in which we should pay it forward, just as he is doing now. On top of all that we discussed how hip hop has changed and how it now glorifies the lifestyle in which he used to live, thus causing our youth to believe that being involved in the drug trade is glamorous.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to interview Freeway not just once but twice. Since our interview he has been making appearances everywhere, he has recently dropped his first book and also had his first screening of his bio movie in atl. This man has become a testimony of how to change your circumstance and not allow it to define you. I am proud of him and all of his success!

Every interview I learn more and more, about the business along with hip hops influence on the world.

            Seems like I haven't written a blog in a minute, but now I'm back!  Things are about to get better then ever!  Which leads me to my next introduction.

          About a year ago I was introduced to ANT GRANT.  My friend DJ Dialogue contacted me and told me there was this incredible artist from Calgary that I needed to hear some of his work.  Once I heard what he could do I immediately requested Ant contact me asap.  Not only is this man a BRILLIANT lyricist but he also models and is an actor as well...Straight triple threat!  On top of all that I got a link a while back to a voice over he did for the Toronto Raptors during the NBA playoffs this past year.  This man got me so excited that I even dropped the commercial ad on my radio show.

          ANT GRANT is an unstoppable force and is by far the most versatile within his artistry.  Ant takes you to different levels with "Dat Nice" then introduces you to his club banger "See You Dancin", and that is just a small portion of what he can do.
So world, remember that name ANT GRANT and check him out on youtube.  Canada needs its just dues ya'll cuz we have more then just talent, we got Grant!!

          I was first introduced to Tona a couple years ago through Billy Danze.  The first song I heard was "Hennesey Thoughts".  The track was good but I wanted to hear more of what this man could do.  My search then led me to his mind blowing track "We Do", which features super producer Rich Kidd.  When I say super I mean out of his world!!  From the remixed beat of Jazmine Sullivans "Lions, Tigers & Bears", to Tonas sick rhyme style and delivery...man...dude got me shook. 

          Now every time I hear the track I get excited and those around me who hear it can't believe this artist is Canada's own.  I look at hip hop and wonder why artists like Tona are not at a higher level, but at the same time I have come to realize the world ain't ready for the Canadian beasts to be let out the cage.
