Just Another Day...

A few weeks ago I came across this artist.  I was very interested in getting to know who he was after viewing  a few of his instagram posts.  Since then I have had the opportunity to speak with him and find out what he has been doing musically.   I recently got to hear a few of his tracks "Fill you up" & "Cold Day". Both songs were very lyrical.  One is very sexy and sensual while the other is that club banger type of joint. 

His versatility and lyrical delivery is what has made him one of the hottest unsigned artists in Kentucky. He is an incredible talent, humble, and sexy as ever. I am so glad to have reached out and am blessed to have gotten to hear his work. 

Let me introduce you all to hip hop artist SHOR-T!!!

Shor-T is a Louisville, KY, native who started rapping at the age of 13 and was in a recording studio by 20. He dedicated his heart and soul to overcome the failures and struggles throughout his underground rap career.  Shor-T left Louisville to pursue his dream in Chicago.  He found more rejection there but learned valuable lessons about being serious about his craft. He knew he had to upgrade his sound quality and the professionalism of his demo package.

Shor-T never lost his passion to rap. He took the lessons he learned and dedicated himself to his rap career. Once he refined his craft, Shor-T has been one of the most requested on internet radio, one of the top played artists on reverbnation, and gaining a lot of street credit from local TV shows and features on mixtape’s. 

Now is his chance.....Now is his time!

            Seems like I haven't written a blog in a minute, but now I'm back!  Things are about to get better then ever!  Which leads me to my next introduction.

          About a year ago I was introduced to ANT GRANT.  My friend DJ Dialogue contacted me and told me there was this incredible artist from Calgary that I needed to hear some of his work.  Once I heard what he could do I immediately requested Ant contact me asap.  Not only is this man a BRILLIANT lyricist but he also models and is an actor as well...Straight triple threat!  On top of all that I got a link a while back to a voice over he did for the Toronto Raptors during the NBA playoffs this past year.  This man got me so excited that I even dropped the commercial ad on my radio show.

          ANT GRANT is an unstoppable force and is by far the most versatile within his artistry.  Ant takes you to different levels with "Dat Nice" then introduces you to his club banger "See You Dancin", and that is just a small portion of what he can do.
So world, remember that name ANT GRANT and check him out on youtube.  Canada needs its just dues ya'll cuz we have more then just talent, we got Grant!!

          I was sitting here thinking about all the experiences, good and bad, that I have had up until this moment.

I have worked with quite a few people over the years and despite some issues we may have had, I learned a lot about what I should expect from myself as an artist.  I consider my style, my musical direction and creativity to be unique and thought provoking and my sound is powerful. 

Most people may think songwriting is easy for me but in fact it can be difficult emotionally and it can often be a struggle connecting words to make a song sound fluid and not forced.  The GREATEST complement one could ever get is to see and hear that your words impacted someone profoundly.  I have achieved that feedback in my career to which I know I am capable of becoming a LEGEND!!

You see, everyone is destined to be great.  Some take it by the horns while others watch it pass!!  Which is why I dj/host two radio shows, edit one of them, network on a regular basis with artists/producers etc, in addition I make time for performances and drop hooks on a few artists songs, but that's not all i am capable of oh no.  Its those things, and more  that make up Afrosoul!!

Music, and every aspect has saved my life so why wouldn't I save hers!!!

Just Another Day.... "The Introduction"

          My name is Renee, but behind the mic, both on stage and in radio, I am referred to as Afrosoul.  The meaning behind the name holds true to who I am as an artist, Dj/host and a woman.  I definitely have had my struggles within a male dominated field of music and radio. For me, I define who I am and who I want to become.  I am new to some and others know how I am as an artist.  I have grown as an artist and songwriter and have created incredible music that is real, honest, and grabs hold of you...that's coming from those who have heard what I can do!!  I can also write on the spot..toot toot yes I can toot my own horn!!  lol

          My involvement in radio, however, started in college.  That was the start of a beautiful friendship!!

Since that point I moved to a University fm station, CKUW 95.9 fm in Winnipeg Canada.  From what I understand is this station was the jump off to all local hip hop and it set the standard for Supporting hip hop culture.  Fast forward now there is We Build Hits.  Billy Danze from M.O.P allowed me to use the name and it's been a hit ever since!!  I managed to build a solid a network through social media which helped in transforming my network.  I am blessed to have interviewed Greg Cross, Lydia Harris, freeway Rick Ross, Billy of course and so many unbelievable artist, actors, writers, entrepreneurs etc.

Which in turn has opened more doors by having an article in MAFIA magazine, complements of Tanya Green (author), being featured in hip hop blogs, as well as hosting my own show on MixxMafiaRadio.

          My life in the industry, in a nut shell, it has been up and down but I wouldn't change a thing!  Sounds cliche because everyone says it but I know I'm destined for greatness and this is just the beginning!!  A Legacy....yeah that's what I want....All about "ChessMoves"!  Ya Dig!!!
