Check out the book Evolution

Toney’s style is a blend of Free-versing, Slam, Spoken word, and Traditional. In his first collection, Author Toney’s book “Evolution of Soul: A Journey Through Poetry”, his verses splatter a metaphoric mind pictorial, painting visuals of love, consciousness, sensuality, darkness, inspiration, and more. Indeed, there are parallel subjects from similar poets, both historical and modern day; however, Toney’s perspectives are inked in an assortment of American vernaculars depicting his own life’s journey.

Also swayed by many musical genres, the quintessence of his lyrical pen is filled with vibrant soulfulness. Author Justin Toney’s expressions are multi-layered and personable. His artistic use of both figurative language and wordplay will stimulate your inner passion. You will detect within his poetry an introduction to his cleverness, while he conveys superlative imagery. Toney believes “poetry connects to one’s soul”, and I too agree. "Evolution of Soul" is not only a collective of poems, but also an impressionable page turner.

Artist Spotlight: Flyy Drexler

Flyy Drexler has enough grit, presence, and writing skill to energize any crowd with his performances. It's a fuel that burns full-throttle, ignited by his unique voice and the power and passion of his songs. Nowhere is that more evident than his initial single release on SNMG/Red, “Came From Nothin,” a gritty anthem about just that; coming from nothing.

A native of Southeast Washington D.C, Carlos “Flyy Drexler” Curry started his rap career at the age of 16. He entered the hip hop world as a member of the locally praised rap outfit “Infinity”. Realizing that he had a talent and desire to create music, he moved to North Carolina to perfect his craft. While in high school, Curry released a string of independent mix tapes that he sold to his peers. He knew his talents were ready for the next level when those projects started to garner praise as well as substantial profit. Flyy Drexler’s style is diverse and effortless. By studying radio hits, underground records, and the street culture he learned to weave classic street tales with easy to access hooks. His ear for Hip Hop, R&B, and alternative rock has influenced his style and ability to reach different musical audiences.

What separates Drexler from any other rapper is his ability to turn out consistently good music at a faster rate than most artists. To date, his mix tape album F.M.F.M.L (Forgive Me For My Lateness) garnered over 65,000 downloads on Datpiff.com. The follow up project was downloaded over 35,000 times. When asked about his music, Flyy Drexler states “I'm as good as my competition. If you put me on a platform where I have to prove I belong I will show up! Without a doubt I give it my all - 1000 percent.”

SNMG Label honcho Nicky Braddy states, “We’re so excited to have Flyy as part of our roster. We see great things for him going forward.” As for Flyy, "This moment is a personal win for me, it’s like a dream come true. I am thankful for the opportunity given to me by Sony Red and Mitch Dudley to show the world what I’ve got."

Poet / Entertainer / Author Spotlight: Justin "Soul Quest" Toney

Author Justin ‘Soul Quest’ Toney gives a fresh tone to literature’s daughter, poetry.  Born in 1986, Author Toney became in touch with his soulfulness as a young tyke, at the age of 7 when he first began singing in the children’s choir at his church.  His expressions of feelings and ideas artistically penned began at the age of 14 in Wichita, Kansas once he was struck with “a curious inspiration”.  It was through music and poetry he sprouted his roots within the creative arts which would soon become his passion.  A young Toney would first showcase his performed work at talents in Iraq while in the U.S. Army in 2005.  Later to share his poetic theatrics at open mic and slam poetry events, at Phatt Katz Jazz & Comedy Lounge, The Sentient Bean, Club Mutuals all within the Savannah, GA area as well as other venues.

Author Toney, a graduate of Armstrong State University in 2013 and also a participant in a poetry critique group with the Deep Kids program where his education included studies of literature, creative writing, poetry and critique courses all in which helped to shape and inspire his cleverly written proses.  A man of plethora of gifts and talents, his heart is just as extendable.  ‘Soul Quest’ Toney, has been a mentor to others within his poetic community as well as a tutor to the youth.  His pure love for the written arts inspires him to motivate others to tap into their own strengths as he offers positive critiques, suggestions for improvement and instructional feedback.

Author Justin Toney has been published in several publication throughout the years.  Some of his printed work includes features in poetic anthologies published by Inner Child Press: "Hot Summer Nights" and "A Gathering of Words: Poetry & Commentary for Trayvon Martin" (both 2012), Honey Drip Radio Magazine first issue, Armstrong State University's 2013 Calliope: "Unhinged Edition Publication (as an entry author and editorial board member), Sweet Nectar Publishing: "Poetic Gumbo: Selected Poems" and "Hurricane Katrina Couldn't Break Us" (both 2013), Poetry & Prose Magazine (2012), and LYFE Magazine (2013). All in which lead to encouragement for him to present his own collection of poetry, Evolution of Soul: A Journey through Poetry” (2015).  The fire in this poet’s eyes, the inspiration within his soul, and the passion within his heart will all continue to brighten this author’s future as a writer.  For this is only the beginning of Author Justin ‘Soul Quest’ Toney’s journey as he continues to “eat and breath poetry”, making it a part of his soulful structure to help others and guide lives with an art form in which he believes “is so much bigger than us”!

Below is a blurb for my book:

Lil' Riley WILD NI**A

Young Riley is a beast on the mic, he is a rapper and singer emerging from Oxon Hill, MD. His musical influences are Jay Z, Biggie, 2Pac, Drake, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Eminem.

No stranger to the streets, Lil Riley fell on hard times and got involved in illegal activities that led him to serving 5 years in prison. He never took music serious until he got out of prison and decided it was time to make a change in his life. Realizing the street life was not the answer he focused on his talent and skills as an artist and devoted more time to the studio making mixtapes and performing around the DMV. He has grown into a focused, driven and determined artist and will not stop until his dream becomes a reality.

Lil Riley's latest single Wild N*gga is gritty, edgy and a guaranteed banger. From witty wordplay to multi syllable flows this joint is HOT! This artist has the potential to rise up the ranks and take his place amongst the rap icons of today!

Project LMR

Project LMR is an anti-domestic violence initiative created by Australian singer- songwriter Bobby BeeBob and US artist Qwes Kross. The objective of the project is to use the arts to raise awareness and funding to fight domestic violence.
The project has initiated activity that includes music and video releases from artists all over the globe, live events and merchandise.

The first song to kick off Project LMR is a remake of the hit 90’s song “Losing My Religion” by the iconic Grammy award winning, American rock band, REM. Bobby BeeBob and US artist Qwes Kross are the artists in the song and video. This song and video is what inspired the creation of Project LMR.

The theme of the music video is based on domestic violence. The interpretation of “Losing My Religion” in this sense is the loss of humanity. Modern society is a bubble like existence. We try to not get involved with the suffering of other people. We look away when confronted with the pain of others, with mindset that we should not “interfere”.
This is wrong. Domestic Violence is a community issue and as a community, we need to stand together and protect people who are being subjected to it.

Function Loops cross media partners with Project LMR on the Domestic Violence Campaign Globally to share the cause. The music video was shot in Melbourne. It was convinced and directed by renowned Australian cinematographer Aaron Foley. We urge everyone to get involved and share this video and make a stand against this epidemic!
