South East Hip Hop Magazine: What's up SCAV? How are you?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: I am doing well. I can’t complain I am still breathing.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: What is S.O.L. Entertainment and what does it stand for?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: Situations Of Life. Actually it’s a movement consisting of music, film, and production. The group was started in 1996 by my older brother SAMPL while he was in high school. He will be coming home next year from a 13 year (vacation) lol. I have been carrying the torch and had to take over during his absence to take the S.O.L brand to the next level. This is just a stepping stone in order to reach other outlets that we wish to tap into.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: How long have you been organizing and hosting events?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: Actually this is my first time ever hosting an event let alone of this magnitude. I am not a promoter, but I am business minded and decided to do something totally outside of my comfort zone. I asked people in the city how they felt about show cases, and the answers were eye opening. Turns out a lot of promoters just put on showcases and build them on lies and hopeful dreams they promise the artist in order to financially gain off them. One of my goals is to put on a showcase that not only our city can be proud of but that carries a reputable reputation of standing for an honest showcase. I believe the artist should gain from the showcases not the other way around.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: What type of event is The King of The Stage?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: The ‘King Of The Stage Showcase’ is a multi-genre talent showcase basically. I want to give artist a real platform just like the originator of ‘Summer Jam’ in New York & the originator of ‘Birthday Bash’ in Atlanta for example. Every huge entity started off as a small idea someone had and this show is no different to me.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: What other events do you have coming up soon?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: The ‘King Of The Stage Showcase’ will be held on July 20th 2014 in Orlando Florida.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: I see that Larry Poynter Jr. the CEO of South Coast Records will be a judge at the forthcoming King of the Stage event, do you often have South Coast Records apart of your events?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: This is our first time doing business together and I cannot be any more excited to be working with South Coast Records.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: What's your favorite song by a South Coast Records recording artist?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: I like their movement as a whole but I am more familiar with Some Kosher Yuppy.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: How did you get introduced to South Coast Records?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: Through my younger brother he goes by Oacekid one of the hottest and talented producers in Orlando FL.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: What artists do you have booked for this upcoming event?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: For the upcoming KOS showcase we have some really talented artist coming from Atlanta including Big Sam from Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys. Also some of the hottest acts from the city including Streets from DH, Twan D the student, Big Dexx, Jae Heez, and some other special invited guest.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: How can managers or agents get in touch with you about sending their artists to you for consideration for being booked at
future events?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: Through email which is kingofthestage@yahoo.com or by calling 470-238-9951
NOTE: Tell 'em you got the information from South East Hip Hop Magazine!! Let 'em know where you say it!
South East Hip Hop Magazine: What plans do you have the rest of 2014?
SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: Basically networking with everyone just trying to build an empire one day at a time. Working on putting together a five to ten city tour for artist in the south to be able to perform and promote themselves in different markets.
South East Hip Hop Magazine: Is there anything else you would like to plug? Any shout outs? SCAV of S.O.L. Entertainment: Definitely Shout outs to all the real ones still out there. Shout out to BSMG, Big Sam,Salvatore, Rico Qpee, Larry Poynter, April Ricchuito, D-Rugg Orlando, Atlanta, SCR, Tah-O, DH, Oacekid, SAMPL, PROPH, MISERY, DESERT E and anyone else that supports my movement. I appreciate the look from SouthEast Hip Hop Magazine I wish them well and much success.
