Producer Spotlight: Be Chap Beats

Get familiar with rising young music producer BE CHAP BEATS below.  Be Chap gives us a little background into his history and the "man behind the beats".  Read all about it!
I’m 26 years old and I go by “Be Chap”. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in The Recording Arts from Full Sail University.
I’ve been listening to music since I was a toddler. The first tune I ever remember hearing is Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” as I was getting my hair cut at a Cartoon Cuts. I was only 3 years old but remember the piano in the song and I still do.
I was in the 6th Grade when I started taking Guitar lessons. From the first day on, music became my passion. By the time I was 16, I was already making beats. My first experience making beats, I downloaded a free trial of Fruity Loops and started producing music on the computer… That was an awesome experience and moment in my life.
I made a few beats at that time, but never followed through or tried to get a placement. Ever since, I’ve always continued to make an effort to expand my music knowledge and the various different types of music in the world.
One habit of mine was to always try to listen to new bands or a new artist who was affiliated with a bigger artist, mostly ones I never heard of. I stopped making beats for a while and just had fun with life, friends and school. I graduated from high school and shortly thereafter heard about Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL (Orlando area). I read about its curriculum and how one of its Degrees was on Music and The Recording Arts. I visited the campus and I was sold on the spot. The school had $250 Million worth of recording and video equipment on campus… it was jaw dropping!! The University had classes on subjects which I never envisioned such as an EQ, Compressor, Limiter, Mixing and Mastering, etc. A very satisfying achievement was receiving a Pro Tools Certification while at Full Sail.
After graduating, I finally landed an internship, a paying one at that, in Symerna Beach, FL. It was an up and coming recording studio on Cocoa Beach, but didn’t have a lot of business. Although the studio wasn’t very busy, I was very fortunate the Studio Owner allowed me to be the Assistant Engineer for Two Full Sessions. Additionally, I had the privilege of Mixing and Mastering both sessions as well. My internship was very valuable and gave me a real feel and jump started my experiences in the industry. My internship ended and shortly thereafter, I decided to get serious about making beats and go into business for myself. So here I am, making beats for a living. Ever since I made the decision to go for it, I haven’t stopped or looked back. Not only do I love making beats, I love Mixing and Mastering.

The gratifying pleasure of making music sound really good is one of the greatest feelings I’ve ever experienced and will hope to experience the feeling for the rest of my life.

THE 86 movie coming soon to Venezuelan Theaters FEB. 24th!

The action movie THE 86 (Los Ochoseis in Spanish) is finally set to open in Venezuelan theatres by February 24th, 2017. The film will first open in the capital city of Caracas to later move onto the rest of the South American country with the potential to be also shown in neighboring countries as informed by one of his producers, actor Carlos Antonio Leon.
Leon says this film is the effort of “three amigos” (actor and producer Thomas Piedra, Financier David DaSilva and Leon) who put together a business plan to shoot this film without any financial help from CNAC (Venezuela’s movie funding entity). “It is very difficult because of the economic situation of Venezuela” says Leon. “We had to do miracles in order to stay afloat given the merciless instability of the Venezuelan currency compared to the dollar, but we made it. It was one of the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in order to shoot a film; this was definitely a learning experience for all of us” ends Leon.
The film is directed by Javier Mujica, an ardent fan of Guy Ritchie’s style, and a very passionate supporter of the action genre. “The 86 however is different from those Ritchie’s films given that our film shows warmer and brighter colors in contrast with Ritchie’s English greys. But I stuck to the action similar to that of Ritchie’s, one of the best directors in the business” The 86 premiered at the Venezuelan Film Festival in New York City to rave responses and won the Audience Choice Award at ELCO Film Festival in Venezuela. The film (inspired by a true story) narrates the story of “Chino” (Ernesto Ceballos) and his brother “Cachito” (Erik Ronso), leaders of the gang “The 86” and its terrorizing activities around the city of Caracas in the mid 80’s. In a way, the film illustrates the decomposition of a society that later deepened into a social and economic collapse. “This was part of the beginnings that later brought us to the actual chaos we are living in Venezuela” Says Piedra.
The cast includes Leon as “Casanova,” Piedra as “Paco,” Martha Tarazona as “Yessenia,” Malena Gonzales as “La Llona,” Marco Alcala as “Diogenes,” Maria Elena Infantino as “Juana,” Laureano Olivares as “Terminator,” Jose Roberto Diaz as “Don Gato,” and Carlos Madera as “Negrin” among others.

Interview with BLAZED UP artist GENERAL P.

General P. sits down with Southeast Hip Hop Magazine for a quick, but informative and in depth interview to discuss his music career, hooking up with the prestigious BLAZED UP RECORDS, influences, his overall journey musically and more!  Read all about what he has to say in this amazing interview.

Southeast Hip Hop:  What's up General P. are you ready for this interview?
General P:  What’s up my boy? Yes!  I’ve been excited and ready to talk with you.

Southeast Hip Hop:  How'd you get the name General P.?General P.:  Well  When I was 12 my grandmother always called me a little peze head boy and as I was finding my self as an artist I quickly adapted to the name and started calling my self Lil’ Peze.  By the time I was 15 I erased the “EZE” and in no time I was now known as Lil’ P.  Once again growing and finding my self to become a house hold name as soon as I turned 18 I was little no more that’s when I found myself changing my name for the third time and becoming P. When its all said and done that’s my stage name P.

Southeast Hip Hop:  How would you describe yourself as an artist?
General P.:  I believe I’m a storytelling artist. I try to step out of my confront zone all the time by doing R&B songs or Pop tracks maybe even a great  punch line track but I love to paint a picture when I do music. I’m not the artist to release a lot of freestyle songs I love substance.

Southeast Hip Hop:  What inspired you to want to do music?
General P.:  My brother Travis “Treydub” Vann he was the start of it.  Then the 2000’s paved the way. I’m also a huge Jadakiss and Jim Jones fan so I mixed a little of them in there at times.

Southeast Hip Hop:  What events lead to you hooking up with Abiss and getting signed to Blazed Up Records?General P.:  Well the biggest notice was me prematurely releasing my first album entitled Eig8t. I got a lot of great reviews in my first week but as a manger Abiss quickly took notice, seen potential and gained her interest in me. I’ll say a few weeks after that I had a show in Waterbury, CT she attended and performed, immediately after her set I was next to perform thank god she stayed to watch.  I performed a track off my album called “N.W.A (Fucc 12) with a dope artist named C.U.J.O and when our set was over ENCORE !! The entire club was yelling “RUN IT BACK” so we performed again back to back and 48  hours later abiss and I had a meeting and sealed the deal.

Southeast Hip Hop:  You are currently working on a project with Blazed Up Records, could you tell the readers a little more about it?
General P.:  No, Blazed-Up Records is working with me on a project. Eig8t. I have 10 mix tapes but this is my first album. Like I said I was established already I came to the table prepared, the label saw me as a great fit and we negotiated a deal to bring the album to life by better marketing, better strategy and label backings.

Southeast Hip Hop:  Who are you working with for this project?
General P.:  My producer is “Matrix Man” owner of Bendin Beatz, he produced 90% of the Album and also wrote the single O.M.O., My artist advisor “Citi Truth” of O.M.O productions. Also the various dope artist on the CD.

Southeast Hip Hop:  Who would you like to work with that you haven't already worked with before?
General P.:  My dream is to work with Jadakiss and Jim Jones.

Southeast Hip Hop:  How do you feel about the current state of Hip Hop?
General P:  I believe the new generation lost the sense of music. I feel the more garbage they produce the harder it will be for great artist and local artist  to make It.

Southeast Hip Hop:  Who are your top five emcees of all time, and you have to do with without naming 2Pac, Biggie, Nas or Jay-Z?
General P.:  To be honest I'm really not into any of those rappers, Yes they paved the way but I missed that era I’m in the 2000’s era.
1. Jadakiss 2. Jim Jones 3. Drake 4. 50 Cent  5. General P

Southeast Hip Hop:  What has been your two biggest milestones or highlights that you have experienced in your music career right now?
General P.:  My milestone would be producing 14 music videos and shooting 10 more as we speak. Highlights thus far? Getting signed to Blazed-up Records.

Southeast Hip Hop:  Is there anything you would like to plug?  Any shout outs?
General P.:  Follow me on my social sites (Facebook- Sincere Vann) or (Instagram @RealGeneralP.) No Shout Outs.
