Lil' Buck Interview (Taks about being The Voice of Geismar LA, A Mill Before The Deal and Getting Buckwild!)

South East Hip Hop:  How are you doing Lil' Buck?
Lil' Buck:  I am doing well, my mix tape is gaining steam and the big boys are calling.

South East Hip Hop:  How did you get the name Lil' Buck?
Lil' Buck:  When I was a yungin; I was a bit buck wild hence the name was given to me and over the years it evolved into Lil Buck.

South East Hip Hop:  How would you describe yourself as an artist?
Lil' Buck:  A straight go getta', unique, not afraid to push the envelope.  If people tell me what I can't do, I will go out of my way to prove them wrong.

South East Hip Hop:  Who would you compare yourself to?
Lil' Buck:  No comparison, I am me.  My style is unique and represents who I am.  Have you seen my show?  After viewing my show people say I have my own style.

South East Hip Hop:  What type of beats bring out the best in what you do?
Lil' Buck:  I want to feel the production. I want to live with the track and become intrinsically involved.  I want the track and my lyrics to become one.  When I get that feeling I couple with the energy then that's a special track.

South East Hip Hop:  Do you pay for beats?  If so, or if not, what is your process for selecting beats?
Lil' Buck:  In some cases yes, in some cases no.  I gather all tracks which are submitted, I then work to narrow down the tracks accordingly.  The tracks are in a tournament and many get eliminated as I work toward my final four.

South East Hip Hop:  What producers have you worked with?
Lil' Buck:  Peace to my mans Hard Beatz, J. Mills (ATL), J. Skillz and J. Buck.  These cats hold me down and deliver heat.

South East Hip Hop:  Who did you work with for your single "Nyte Lyfe"?
Lil' Buck:  Hard Beatz was the producer.  It was one of those tracks that spoke to me.  It had a bonafide club feel and I was like I can F#@* with this.  I told Hard Beatz to lay it down and I penned a solid piece of hip-hop laurel.  "Nyte Lyfe" is one of the best club tracks out right now.  When people hear Nyte Lyfe they respond.  Many DJs have let me know how the audience reacts to this track.

South East Hip Hop:  What can listeners expect to hear on your mixtape A Mill Before The Deal?
Lil' Buck:  Heat coupled with energy and most important some brand new s**t!!!  A Mill Before The Deal will be a peek behind the curtain.  I am giving a huge slice of what to expect when the major deal becomes official.  I wanted to put together a solid project that people all over can relate to and simultaneously prompt DJs to select different tracks to bump.

South East Hip Hop:  We see you are from Geismar, Louisiana.... how is the music scene there?
Lil' Buck:  I am Geismar music.  It begins and ends with me.

South East Hip Hop:  Who are some of the artists that you listen to?
Lil' Buck:  I bump myself but I do check out 2 Chainz, E-40, Too $hort, Snoop and C-Bo. Snoop Too $hort and E-40 picked up my music via Twitter and I have formed a relationship with each of them. My Twitter handle is @lilbuckofficial

Lil' Buck:  I will be in Hattiesburg, MS on the 19 April, Laplace, LA 27 of April, Hattiesburg, MS Taste Bar Lounge, 4 May Thibodaux, LA

South East Hip Hop:  What plans do you have for the rest of 2013?
Lil' Buck:   I will continue to continue grind and prepare for my major release. I will used the remaining portion of 2013 to prepare for an exciting 2014.

South East Hip Hop:  Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Lil' Buck:  An artist that people respect and one that has earned his way into the annuals of hip-hop lure.  I want to be that guy that earned his spot and represent my city and my region to the fullest.  In five years I will be bringing consistent heat to the game.
