Just Another Day: Listen To Sypher For The First Time

Just Another Day...."Listening To Sypher

For The First Time"

by Renee Batson (Miss Afrosoul)

Heard about this dude Sypher the other day. I was curious to hear about what he has been doing music wise and what his song style is like.  Got to hear "Get Throwed" and noticed that his style is different then most.  Until now I had never heard of Sypher, but now I will get more familiar.
Sypher has major potential, he's just gotta play the game better than the next MC.  So be on the lookout for Sypher who is making his way through the maze of what is Hip Hop! You can check out "Get Throwed" on youtube!!

Just Another Day: Tona Repping Hard For Canada

Just Another Day...."Tona Repping Hard For Canada"

by Renee Batson (Miss Afrosoul)

I have had the pleasure of getting acquainted with some PHENOMENAL Emcees throughout the last few years. Some of which include four of the illest Canadian artists I have ever heard!

Let's start this one with Tona.

I was first introduced to Tona a couple years ago through Billy Danze.  The first song I heard was "Hennesey Thoughts".  The track was good but I wanted to hear more of what this man could do.  My search then led me to his mind blowing track "We Do", which features super producer Rich Kidd.  When I say super I mean out of his world!!  From the remixed beat of Jazmine Sullivans "Lions, Tigers & Bears", to Tonas sick rhyme style and delivery...man...dude got me shook.

Now every time I hear the track I get excited and those around me who hear it can't believe this artist is Canada's own.
I look at hip hop and wonder why artists like Tona are not at a higher level, but at the same time I have come to realize the world ain't ready for the Canadian beasts to be let out the cage.

TONA is one of many...this story doesn't end here. Stay tuned for part two and three of this blog where you will get familiar with ThugMinded Akshunman, Ant Grant, and Bishop Brigante.

Emcees out here don't stop. There's more to this country then just DRAKE or JUSTIN BEIBER.  Real authentic talent lives here!!!  Check out Tonas album SilverSpring Cresent on itunes also check him out on youtube along with Rich Kidd.

Just Another Day: You Can't Delete The Queens of Hip Hop

Just Another Day...."You Can't Delete The Queens of Hip Hop"

by Renee Batson (Miss Afrosoul)

Today I got the chance to listen to Abiss' "Delete the Queen".  Its clear that this is an artist who is trying to impact the hip hop industry by delivering bars for days.  As women, we struggle getting noticed in an industry that is male
dominated, Abiss has cast that aside and is making her way towards destroying the competition.  I look forward to hearing more from her and hopefully get that interview in the coming months.  Go check out Abiss out on youtube.   Support the future of female MC's!!!

Interview with Shys Debiocci.

Check out our interview with up and comer and South East Hip Hop Magazine featured artist Shys Deboicci.  In this interview, Shys talks about his music, his single "Twerk", how he got the name, his up and coming tour, performances and more!  Read all about what this artist has to say below.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  How are you doing Shys Deboicci?
Shys Deboicci:   I'm doing good right now, feeling real blessed thank you!

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   How'd you get the name Shys Deboicci?
Shys Deboicci:   Shys Debiocci came from my creative side initially it was Shystee, but I didn't wanna be look at as shystee so I took it down to Shys which means WINNER.  Then I added Debiocci which is pronounced how you would say the wrestlers name the million dollar Ted.  Debiocci stands for millionaire thoughts, moves, and DESTINE to be.  Put it together you got Shys Debiocci.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   How would you describe yourself as an artist?
Shys Deboicci:   I describe myself as an one of a kind artist I am very versatile.  I can do it all: freestyle, write most genres R&B, rock, pop, gospel.  I got stupid delivery, punchlines, bars, metaphors, wordplay, stage presence, battle rap, sing a little, creativity, story telling ability.  Name it, I can or will learn how to do it.   A striker, a motivator, I'm motivated, I'ma go GETTA.  If I see something I want or need I go get it.  I'm raw and a lot of time UNCUT.  I am a gift and a curse.  Curse comes when I done got on enemy lines now it's crunch time.  YOU'LL find yourself going to root doctors and whoever to get me off you lol.  I fear NOTHING.  I'm hungry but I'm never thirsty.  Thirsty meaning I wont sell my soul for a dollar I'm not desperate.... The list goes on........

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   How long have you been rapping, and what inspired you to rap?
Shys Deboicci:  Been since I was young really got serious about it about a year ago.  In the past it was a on and off thing but wasn't truly my first love, basketball was.  When I broke my wrist and could not play ball no more that's what inspired me to rap though.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   Who are some of your favorite rappers right now?
Shys Deboicci:   Some of my favorite rappers right now living would be Lil Wayne.  He's a musical genius.  What he's doing is phenomenal.  You gotta like but like Kobe s/o to Kobe.  You gotta respect his game but he's my favorite.  I like JADA, I like Juelz, I like Meek, Ross, I Easy LANTANA s/o Cincinnati, Drake, Cassidy, Gotti, Eminem...... No specific order accept Wayne is 1st lol No HOMO he just a MONSTA.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   Where are you located and how is the music scene where you are?
Shys Deboicci:   I'm located in Charleston, SC and SC has a lot of talent here.  I think the city can be bigger then what it is when it comes to music if everyone come together and unit as a team.  You can definitely find talent here easy if needed some.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   You have two singles out called "Twerk" and "My City", how would you describe these singles for those that haven't heard it yet?
Shys Deboicci:    "TWERK" is a mean booty shaker it started my MOVEMENT as my #1 single, and still is a BANGA.  You know it's mean when u have the FELLAS and the ladies jiggin' to the song.  It's put together perfect.  It's an instant party jumper.  "MY CITY" is something that's dedicated to not JUST my city but all cities.  It's almost like "Put your Hood up" by Lil' Jon but it's your city feeling good to be where you're from.  Something you can go Ape on.  I'm actually thinking of a remix with somebody from a several different states to rep for there city.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   Who did you work with for these singles?
Shys Deboicci:   Shout out to Baby Breeze Production he's very talented.  I came up with the song and he matched my hook with the beat.  I like  I can tell him any ideas as far as the beats and he can bring it out too.  Shout out to 40 oz for recording and mixing and mastering all my work. He's a beast to me the best down here HANDS down and he want let you leave unless it's a hit or its best potential.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   What other projects are you working on right now?
Shys Deboicci:   Right now I am just just dropping songs every chance I get.  I got a lot of things I got going on.  I've recorded some R&B songs just experimenting.  I have been offered a Marketing Distribution deal through Tate Music Group, which stimulated off a tour that I am currently on called "THE CAROLINA KINGS TOUR" started by Michael "BOSSDIDDY" Mitchell of VMG.  He is a powerful individual.  He has his hands in a lot of people's success and he do it to help us and to see us get to places we work so hard to go.  I definitely shout him out and recommend him with business.  The tour is through 2015 and we keep HEAVY HITTAS with us such as PRINCESS of CRIMEMOB along with LIL JAY, Lil' SCRAPPY, SHAWTI LO,  Fabo, Lil' RU and so on.  So I am about to blow lol.  I am getting ready to release a book soon and I have a few scripts I wrote.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   What are your plans for the rest of 2014?
Shys Deboicci:   For 2014 I play a main character in a movie reality series called "THE COUGAR STORY".  SHOUT out to Sandra Wilson a beautiful Young COUGAR who wrote the story it's going to be amazing.  She also has a radio talk show I was on called the "SANDRA WILSON TALK SHOW" where you can go Listen our interview.  Shout out Janelle Barr and all the cast.  JUST MORE SHOWS AND MORE MONEY MAKING LOL.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   Where do you see yourself as an artist in the next 5 years?
Shys Deboicci:  In 5 years I see myself on high rankings, record breaking, having businesses, good investments, but never be content  to wherever I am at that time.  In 5 years I will probably Be hungrier then what I am now.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   Is there anything else you would like to plug?  Any shout outs?
Shys Deboicci:   SHOUT OUTS to GOD, Melissa Akin, Michael Mitchell, Addie McCoy,Sandra Wilson, Janelle Barr , MY NIECE SA'LESS WALKER UNC LOVE U,  South East Hip Hop Magazine, Xclusive Magazine, Tate Music Group, 40 oz, Baby Breeze Production, DJ TIMG,  The whole OH, KY, SC, NC. Just Another Day: Dear Officer, Don't Shoot Me

Just Another Day...."Dear Officer, Don't Shoot Me"

by Renee Batson (Miss Afrosoul)

Just Another Day

Normally I write these blogs about music and my experiences as a radio host. Today, what I write about, has nothing to do with either of those.  Last night I spent 5 hours watching what has been transpiring in Ferguson. I have to say what I viewed not only angered me but it also brought me great sadness.  Being a product of racism throughout my childhood, youth, and adulthood has made me look at things with my eyes fully open and these injustices my people still endure are beyond comprehension.

I knew, after hearing and seeing the events unfold with several cases over the last few years, that this situation would soon cause people to stand up and take notice. The problem is that the ones in power positions stand by and watch without attempting to remedy this situation and many other situations when black men, women, and children are being killed by those who are suppose to SERVE AND PROTECT.

The other night a friend of mine commented on a post that was on my FB in which people are seen among a cloud of tear gas.  He asked me if what he had viewed was from Iraq or Afghanistan.  I told him "No, that is going on in AMERICA"! Shocked by my response he asked me "Why are they riding in tanks, "Why are they shooting tear gas into the groups of people that are protesting", and "Why are they firing at our people", all questions that confused me as well.

This event made me remember a dream I had over 10 years ago in which there were tanks patrolling the streets with machine guns on top.  From what I see some believe we are the enemy and will gt rid of us at ANY cost. This has been going on for hundreds of years and will continue if we don't protest and boycott in effort to get our voices heard.  Unfortunately Mike Brown, as well as many others, had to be sacrificed in order for us to wake up!
We should be angry and we should be protesting everyday till justice is served....
Through all of this Martin Luther Kings speech has been ringing in my head....But will we ever be FREE AT LAST?

Today I'm no longer hopeful.  Seeing a lifeless young black male again laying in our community has made me cynical when it comes to hope.  Prayers go out to the family of Mike Brown and all those who have lost their lives because of others lack of respect for human life...In the bigger picture we aren't just black, we are HUMAN!

Remember, with all this we need to come together in order to make a change!! Raise your voices and put up your hands.  On September 8th of this year boycott all retail outlets that are not black owned. Maybe then, and only then, they will pay attention.  We have more power then we realize we have!  HANDS UP DON'T SHOOT!!!

Just Another Day: Being Introduced to Diiamond Royalty

Just Another Day...."Being Introduced to Diiamond Royalty"

by Renee Batson (Miss Afrosoul)

Just Another Day

Well today is another day, as everyday is!

As of late, I have been coming across a few things that have been posted on my news feed, but before I get to that, let me tell you a little something. One day my co host and I had a discussion while listening to Chris Brown's, ever so popular, "Loyal".  While live on air I stated that I was looking forward to hearing an artist putting dudes on blast for the things they do because in a woman's world men ain't loyal either.   Days after making the statement I came across this artist who I would soon come to know as "Diiamond Royalty".  As I sat and listened to her drop bars I thought to myself, she spoke for every woman and responded to Chris's version with a POWERFUL FORCE!! I guess you could say she was LOUD!

After hearing this I began to speak of this woman and tell my peoples about this ill MC that showed up on my computer screen. Female MC's work hard and lemme tell you she has it and has what it takes to get that brass hip hop ring.  Women supporting one another can be hard, especially when your an artist, but seeing what Diiamond can do definitely made me look at my game more carefully.  Right now female artists are coming hard, so hard that they now are being noticed and becoming recognized in the world of hip hop.

I can't wait to see more from Diiamond Royalty and hopefully I will get to catch her on tour.  She is the truth, a voice of a new generation in hip hop; the generation that is lyrical, flowetic and commands attention!!! Salute!!!

Check Diiamond out on YouTube and you will see for yourself! 1luv

Interview with Abiss of Blazed Up Records

South East Hip Hop Magazine recently caught up with rapper Abiss and CEO of Blazed Up Records to talk about her new single "Delete The Queen" and the future of Blazed Up Records!

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  How are you Abiss?
Abiss:  I'm doing well, motivation is carrying me through.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  How has your Summer been so far?
Abiss:  So far, so good. Working on my new EP.  I don't have a title yet but its going down the way it should.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  For those that aren't aware, how would you describe yourself as an artist?
Abiss:  I'm an innovative artist.  Constantly changing and experimenting with sounds and concepts. Hip-hop is the foundation that is relevant in my life and galaxy.  As a queen of the Universal Zulu Nation, I just want to keep hip-hop sustainable.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  You have a new single out right now called "Delete The Queen", could you tell our readers what the single is about?
Abiss:  The single is about not forgetting that there is some real female emcees that will demolish half the male emcees.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  Who did you work with for the single?
Abiss:  I worked with DJ Face of Top Shelf. S.U.P affiliate. That's the fam.  We have been working together for years. He usually give me a cd or folder with at least 25 beats on it. He is the type of producer that will influence you to think out the box.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  What other projects have you been working on lately?
Abiss:  Getting on other artists mixtapes, collaborating with other artist. Doing a little artist management and writing r&b songs.  Venturing into other sectors of business.  Its getting interesting.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  Let's talk about Blazed Up Records, who are the artists you have on the label?
Abiss:  I am currently working with Scotty Beamin, Sypher, Beanz, and a few others artist that are really trying to make a mark in music.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  Do you plan on dropping any compilation albums or mixtapes to showcase all the artists on the label?
Abiss:  Indeed and have in the past. Check www.cdbaby.com/blazeburna1
I released Blaze Burna Vol 1 & 2. I want to work on vol 3 this winter.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Do you plan on signing any new artists any time soon?
If so, what are you looking for?
Abiss:  Yes, always looking for fresh and authentic talent. When I say authentic because, I want artist that's true to themselves and the art of their music. Also, looking for R&B artist.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  With the internet and mobile platforms pretty much making it harder for artists to make money from album sales and off their music, has it been difficult to run the label or have you found ways to hold your ground with the constant changes in the climate in the record industry these days?
Abiss:   Yeah, you still got to hit the streets. You got to hit the pavement. Meet people and answer questions.  The Internet can help you make money if you put your puzzle pieces in the right places.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  What other plans do you have for 2014?
Abiss:  Several videos and DVD projects.  Still building on it. Also, making efforts to produce great bodies of work.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  Where do you see yourself and Blazed Up Records in the next 5 years? Abiss:   Catching flights everywhere. Being an artist, its to get encouraged by other cultures and communities. Still making great music. Innovating in the art form to the point we could really provide for our families.
