Reviews by V-Dot: Jay-Z & Beyonce "On The Run"

Artists:  Jay-Z & Beyonce
Song:  "On The Run"
Link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbsFNLD-4ZU

Looking for that song to romance even that hip hop head in your life this valentine's day? Check out Jay-Z's newest single "On the Run" featuring the one and only Mrs. Carter.  Straight from the Magna Carter album, this song is one any man or woman can appreciate. Long gone are the days of the fairy tale romance, according to Jay.

Freshness of sound, this track is absence of musical clichés, colorful work, the crisp and intense combination of a tender, expressive melody escapes the stereo all without losing the cool and rawness of a Hov record.

We all know that anything B and Jay touch turns to gold. They don't call them the "Bonnie & Clyde" of the 2000's for anything.

Reviews by V-Dot: Freestyle (of the Arsonists) "Crystal Ball"

Artist:  Freestyle (of The Arsonists)
Song:  "Crystal Ball"

It looks like one fifth of the underground hip hop group The Arsonists is bringing back the trend of "music with a message", good music.  Original member Freestyle gives you hip hop you can dance to with his latest joint "Crystal Ball".

You can let go of the harsh reality of life, even if just for one track and embrace the positive lyrics  and smooth up tempo beat. You can definitely escape the hate, feel the love and dance like no one's watching with this one.

From the looks of my crystal ball and thousands of YouTube views, the future of this song is looking very bright!

Reviews by V-Dot: Clean Kutt "Standing Out"

Artist:  Clean Kutt & Rob
Song:  "Standing Out"

When it comes to finding a joint you don't have to change when your mother walks into the room, it doesn't get any fresher than Clean Kutt.  The kat stands true to his name and his image in his single "Standing Out".

Come on, how often do you find a curse-word free hip hop song that you can turn up and bump to?  Clean Kutt drops a clean beat, mixes it with a little down south dirty screw and gives that  track its edge while still having fun with it.

So, when looking for a joint that just makes you feel good, vibe to; grab ya gadget, ya crew and head over to youtube and check out Clean Kutt.

REVIEWS by V-DOT: Jay Fresko "Slow Down"

Jay Fresko "Slow Down"

The only thing that will need to slow down is the number of times you’ll hit replay on “Slow Down”. This joint is coming from Florida’s own Jay Fresko, from his upcoming mixtape The Product Vol. 1.  Jay takes a play from the 80’s play book using the beat from the old school jam of the same name from the group LOOSE ENDS.

The intro reminds you of the Biggie Smalls “Juicy” scenario when asking a hard-core gangster rapper to bust a rhyme over a catchy hook.  That is just what Jay did with a strong beat and engaging rhythm and this song can just take you away.  The well-shaped melody definitely gives you something to groove to while the vocals are distinctive and rich, the lyrics are clever and fun.

Jay Fresko is definitely one to watch out for.  One thing is for sure, you'll been be singing Mr. Fresko's slow down.  It appears he is on a the fast track up the charts!

Wess Musiq gives you the real life version of Grand Theft Auto 5!  The video takes this joint to a whole new level, with nearly 10,000 views, this single is definitely NOT a game.

Looking for a dope street anthem??  Well "Just Ask."
Wess Musiq enlists the help of Al Skee and Casino Redd for his newest single “Just Ask”, off his future December 18th release CD Power N Pleasure; these fellas are giving it to you raw and edgy.

The instrumental accompaniment for this track is both rhythmic and engaging. This song will certainly tap into anyone’s inner gangster.  It will even make the hardest dude bob his head in agreement.

REVIEWS by V-DOT: Wess Musiq "Get Mad" (featuring Sean Paul of The YoungBloodz)

Wess Music "Get Mad" (featuring Sean Paul of The YoungBloodz)

Something for the streets is definitely what up-and-coming rapper Wess Musiq is giving to the people. On this single,"Get Mad" from his current release, the Sumthin 4 da Streets mixtape, Wess collaborates with one of the originators of "get crunk" music, none other than Sean Paul from the popular duo YoungzBloodz.

There is no way you can get mad listening to this joint, but you will do is involuntary bop your head to the hard beat. Wess tells you himself in this track that he is doing what none of these other artist can do.

Big things are coming for Wess Musiq. So all those artist thinking there is no competition in these streets, dont "get mad"... get ready!

REVIEWS by V-DOT: Gucci Mane "Cold Hearted" (featuring Kevin McCalls)

Gucci Mane "Cold Hearted" (featuring Kevin McCalls)

Looks like even rappers can experience a broken heart or two. Gucci Mane show what he would consider his “sensitive” side with his track "Cold-Hearted" featuring Kevin McCall, which you can find on his latest album Diary of a trap God, but there is nothing cold about this joint, because it is HOT!  The song starts with a smooth melody and then just like a heart the beat drops. The dope beat adds to the smooth sound as Kevin McCalls croons over it and then Gucci Mane comes in to spit his verse.

Despite all the controversy surrounding Gucci right now between jail time and rehab time the man can still entertain. This is definitely on joint that would find yourself blasting in your car and singing along to every word. Gucci surely won’t break your heart with this one.

Looks like the Philly queen is back to claim her throne among hip hop royalty.  Charli Baltimore brings it with her new single "BMB" from her Mixtape Hard 2 Kill. Charli makes sure she is hard to forget with this one.

The single features Detroit native and label mate Trick Trick.  The hard instrumental crescendos in the background rising all emotion in anticipation of what your highness has to say.

Charli Is definitely going to give the other rap princesses a run for the money, I won't be surprised to hear in the background "All hail queen C".

REVIEWS by V-DOT: Some Kosher Yuppy "In Due Time"

Some Kosher Yuppy "In Due Time"
Listen Here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCEZV172pmY

Ever feel like you are missing the times when West Coast music gave you something to ride to?  Well look no further, because it is here. Up and rising rapper Some Kosher Yuppy is taking the world by storm with his new single “In Due Time” off his EP The Rebel Reason.

The Florida native is bringing back a feel of positivity into his music while also giving you a joint to bump your bass to. The music reminds you of the days “Art of Noise” used to boom through your mother’s stereo. The instrumental is soft and melodious and Yuppy’s rapping over the beat is just as hypnotic reminding you of the rappers like Snoop Dog or Warren G. This is definitely a song you can play over and over again.

Yes indeed, in due time everything will be alright if Some Kosher Yuppy keeps up the good work. With nearly 200,000 views on Youtube in less than two months, this star is one to look out for.

REVIEWS by V-DOT: Eminem "Rap God"

Eminem "Rap God"
Listen:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7cQ3b0iqLo

Will the real Slim Shady please TURN UP?!. Social media has been blowing up with newsfeeds talking about Eminem’s newest single “Rap God” off his highly anticipated album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, scheduled to be release on November 5th.

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Mr. Mathers killed it. With his mid-tempo beats and his flick of the tongue raw lyrics, Eminem certainly does not disappoint.  In this six minute track Em gives credit to rap legends like Tupac, Rakim, and Ice Cube for inspiring the self proclaimed “Rap God”.  At this point, this is no argument.  Eminem is coming back hard after his three year hiatus challenging those that question his skills based on the color of his skin.

If this single is any indication on what will be on the upcoming album then it looks like Em will be blessing our ears. Forget king of the underground, why be a king when you can be a God.

REVIEWS by V-DOT: Drake "Poundcake" featuring Jay-Z

Drake "Pound Cake" (featuring Jay-Z)

Let the Drake memes say what they want about the rapper‘s history with women, but what no one can deny is his skills.  Drake came together with the man himself, Jay-Z, for his single “Pound Cake” on his new album Nothing Was The Same.

Rocking a smooth and mellow instrumental, the song features a rap flow from both artists, allowing both of their vocals to lead the tune while the production itself remains steady before a complete beat switch up at the four-minute mark. With beats courtesy of producer Boi-1da, Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett, the track references to Rihanna's "Birthday Cake" and Kanye's "No Church in the Wild".

The duo does not disappoint with their lyrical game, even bringing back the classic hop-hip with Wu Tang’ “C.R.E.A.M” on the hook. You can’t help but bop your head to the beat and let the music bring you back to the nostalgic time of good hip-hop.
