South East Hip Hop Magazine:  How are you Mike Cobain? 

Mike Cobain:  I'm good working on my project like always. 

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Why do you call yourself Mike Cobain? 

Mike Cobain:  Because of Kurt Cobain.  One day I was listening to Nirvana because my brother listens to all ties of genre, happened to play a song and said I should call my self Mike Cobain as a joke and we laughed then thought that sounded good.   

South East Hip Hop Magazine:  Were you ever a fan of Nirvana? 

Mike Cobain:  Yea not really a say "fan", but I'm familiar with they music. 

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How would you describe yourself as an artist? 

Mike Cobain:  As a artist I'm a perfectionist because I will record a song 3 or 5 times different ways to see which one sounds better to different people but I'm humble and still i have that self confidence to. 

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What inspired you to want to become a rapper? 

Mike Cobain:  I started rapping after I heard Get Rich or Dye Trying by 50 cent when I was 'lil but really didn't want to be a rapper till i heard The Black Album & Villmatic.  

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who were some of your influences coming up? 

Mike Cobain:  Nas, Jay-Z, Kanye, Pusha-T, Pac and Biggie.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who do you listen to right now?  What's in your iPod? 

Mike Cobain:  I don't listen to other artists because I don't want to sound similar to anyone because when you hear something a lot over and over in your mind you think this is hot so you start to sound and mimic that so i listen to myself.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who are some of the people you've worked with? 

Mike Cobain:  I work with a few people, Gave an artist out of Macon, Raw Rome and Taye Teezy. 

My engineer, but that's it really I don't really pay other artist attention. 

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who are some of the artists you would like to work with in the future?

Mike Cobain:  I'd like to work with Kanye and hopefully Jay-Z.  O.G's like that no new artist really catch me.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   Speaking of future, what projects do you have coming out in the near future if any?

Mike Cobain:  I'm working on one now trying to get it all together with my manager but i don't have a date or name but expect it next year soon.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Where do you see yourself as an artist in the next five years? 

Mike Cobain:  Next five years I see God willing, Grammy or something in that nature couple number 1's singles and album.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What are your plans for the rest of this year? 

Mike Cobain:  Plan for this year promote myself as a artist and person.

South East Hip Hop Magazine:   Is there anything else you would like to plug? Any shout outs you want to give?

Interview with Some Kosher Yuppy (talks about "In Due Time", and more!)

   

South East Hip Hop Magazine recently caught up with rising hip hop recording artist Some Kosher Yuppy for a one on one interview to discuss his hot new single and video "In Due Time", his latest projects, plans for the future and more!  Read all about what this talented, bright young artist has to say....

South East Hip Hop:  How are you doing?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  I'm doing well life is good, no complaint.

South East Hip Hop:  What's the history behind calling yourself "Some Kosher Yuppy"?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  Well long story short I came across the word "Yuppie" in the dictionary in search of a word to fit the last letter of the acronym "S.K.Y." and the definition stood out to me which pretty much was ; " A young professional regarded as affluent, ambitious. I knew it wasn't coincidence it was a good fit, original and more importantly Me.  I didn't want to have a "RAP NAME" I just wanted something creative & natural… I replaced the "ie" with "y" and rolled with it. The homies just call me Yuppy usually, but yea that's the back-story on that..

South East Hip Hop:  How would you describe yourself as an artist?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  I would describe myself as an artist that is true to the craft on all angles… My passion is studying the game and mastering my approach and what I can offer to the Art… I Don't hold back or compromise, I show all shades of me when I make my music, that's what attracts people to music in the first place… it's that raw relatable feeling or thought that we as humans all have in common that we get to share through music whether you listen to it, or make the music people listen to… 

South East Hip Hop:  Who or what are some of your influences?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  With Life in general my Parents are my biggest influence overall to be honest, they're the reason I challenge myself the way I do they always pushed me to reach to higher levels as a person first, but musically guys like Andre 3 Stacks, Tupac, Kanye, Kendrick Lamar influence me as an artist…. that's just to name a few artist.  I'm influenced by Music Overall, its a real Passion of mine, I'm constantly inspired…

South East Hip Hop: What artists does Some Kosher Yuppy have in his iPod or CD Player right now?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  I've been listening to a lot of Vic Mensa lately… Pusha T's new Album, Danny Brown's New Album, Game's new project… My new Music is on there too of course...

South East Hip Hop:  What makes Some Kosher Yuppy different from most of the artists today?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  I think I'm different simply because there hasn't been another me yet and there never will be… Only I can be me, that's the beauty of individuality… Plus I'm just getting started I have so much progression to do so I'm seizing the opportunity and solely focusing on making the best music I possibly can…

South East Hip Hop: You are down in Orlando, FL right?  How is the music and entertainment scene there?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  Yea I'm in Orlando. The Music scene is growing, especially the Hip-Hop scene. A lot of quality Tours have been coming through the city so people are starting to recognize Orlando for more just than Mickey Mouse and Universal.

South East Hip Hop:  How would you describe Orlando as a City?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  Orlando is diverse, there's a little bit of everything… Especially with it being a tourist city and being world known, it attracts all walks of Life. 

South East Hip Hop:  What are some of the best spots to visit in Orlando?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  Nightlife wise Wall Street is pretty dope, it has a bourbon street vibe to it. Galactic G is probably one of the dopest spots to get Exclusive Urban Street wear… Taco Cheena is a food spot that has some of the best Tacos in town.

  

South East Hip Hop:  Lets talk about your new single and video "In Due Time", for those that haven't heard it yet, how would you describe the single and the video?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  Yea the video is getting some good response… Its one of those feel-good songs that everyone can relate too.  Everyone wants to be successful doing something they love, so knowing that you have to always remember that if you work and put your all into it then, "In Due Time" it will happen… the visual brought the words and vibes to life, during a good day in the city, very laid back scene.

South East Hip Hop:  What response have you been getting from this single?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  The response has been relatively the same, a very positive laid-back, honest concept over a dope beat. Good positive energy.

South East Hip Hop:  What are your plans after this single?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  Right now I'm finishing up my new project No Days Off… so we will be shooting and releasing a visual for a single from the EP and staying active with building the Brand GMATT & making dope music for the Label SCR.

South East Hip Hop:  Speaking of future plans, what do you have planned for the rest of 2013?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  The Plan for this 4th Quarter is to release the project No Days Off and to drop another Video…. Were working on some Dope merchandise right now too, that should hopefully be available end of the 2013 beginning of 2014.

South East Hip Hop:  Where do you see yourself in 5 years as an artist?

Some Kosher Yuppy:  In 5 years I see myself traveling the world and connecting with a lot of people through my music… Really living the Lifestyle and embracing the culture…

South East Hip Hop:  Is there anything else you would like to plug?  Any shout outs?

Let the Drake memes say what they want about the rapper‘s history with women, but what no one can deny is his skills.  Drake came together with the man himself, Jay-Z, for his single “Pound Cake” on his new album Nothing Was The Same.

Rocking a smooth and mellow instrumental, the song features a rap flow from both artists, allowing both of their vocals to lead the tune while the production itself remains steady before a complete beat switch up at the four-minute mark. With beats courtesy of producer Boi-1da, Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett, the track references to Rihanna's "Birthday Cake" and Kanye's "No Church in the Wild".

The duo does not disappoint with their lyrical game, even bringing back the classic hop-hip with Wu Tang’ “C.R.E.A.M” on the hook. You can’t help but bop your head to the beat and let the music bring you back to the nostalgic time of good hip-hop.

Interview with C. Suave (Atlanta Georgia based artist talks about his past, present and future in this New Interview)

Rising Atlanta based recording artist C. Suave sat down and had a one on one interview with South East Hip Hop Magazine.  In this interview C. Suave talks about his past experiences as an artist, his forthcoming mixtapes, and more!  Read all about what he has to say in this interview.

South East Hip Hop:  What part of the U.S. are you representing?

C. Suave:  Georgia...... The South Eastern Region

 

South East Hip Hop:  How long have you been rhyming?

C. Suave:  I've Been Rhyming since I was 17.

 

South East Hip Hop:  How would you describe yourself as an artist?

C. Suave:  First of I am a well dedicated artist who works on his craft more than anything .... I like telling my life story cause I feel like if you keep it real then there's other people that can relate... that's mostly going through the same situations.  So I am an Hip Hop/R&B Artist who loves to tell the truth and loves making music for the ladies but can also be lyrical..... I also write my own music.

 

South East Hip Hop:  What would you say makes C. Suave different from any other artist in the game right now?
C. Suave:  I would say I focus on the inspirational side of life into my music so really if I'm making a song that's not about the women, I'm really speaking to that kid or teenager who is dealing with the world on his back and needs some up-lifting music to help him cope thru the hard times ...knowing that his situation will get better if he believes in his self.

 

South East Hip Hop:  Who are some of your favorite artists?
C. Suave:  Jay-Z, Kanye West, Kid Cudi , TIP, OutKast , Maxwell, Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Nas, Drake, J.Cole

 

South East Hip Hop:  Who are some of the artists that you have worked with?
C. Suave:   Hustle N Flo and just some in house artists on my team

 

South East Hip Hop:  Who would you like to work with in the future?
C. Suave:  TIP , Lil Wayne , Drake , J.Cole Usher Trey Songz

 

South East Hip Hop:  What types of beats bring out the best in what you do?
C. Suave:  Well smooth rather calm chilling beats where I can vent out to the world.

 

South East Hip Hop:  Who are some of the beatmakers/ producers that you worked with?
C. Suave:   Obrian , Epik the Dawn , Vybe Beatz , Best Keep Secret , Naux

 

South East Hip Hop:  What beatmakers would you like to collaborate in the future?
C. Suave:  Mike Will Made It , Key Wayne , Kanye West , Dr.Dre , Dj Khaled , Timbaland

 

South East Hip Hop:  Do you buy beats, and what is your method for selecting beats?
C. Suave:  Most of the time I buy beats and then I have my in-house producers make me some beats, and the way I select my beats is thru the concept I'm trying to bring out in the current project.  I'm all about telling a good story and keep it sonic-ally perfect making the songs marry each other thru the project.

 

South East Hip Hop:  What was one of the worst experiences you've had as an artist so far and how did you bounce back from it?
C. Suave:  Not being able to release my mixtapes back to back or at least in the time frame I wanted to cause of the situation I was in ...in my life .... going thru family problems plus was out of a job and had no source of income so I wasn't able to record or keep a steady buzz, but now I'm back with a more deeper story and more dedication to the music and making it.

 

South East Hip Hop:  What has been one of the highlights of your career so far?
C. Suave:  My first show opening up for Kirko Bangz In Columbus, Ga ..... It was a pretty big crowd and a lot of women there (laughs) I love the women so yeah I had a better great response back from the crowd off of my performance and being on stage was a high for me I really enjoy performing.

 

South East Hip Hop:  In your opinion what would you say is one of the best ways to get your music out there?
C. Suave:  Really Hip Hop to me was raised from the streets so I would say your street Game should be up so Mixtapes and just demos being handed out where ever you go and also being at clubs interacting with DJs but also the use of the Internet is a great way now of days and I believe you need to have both Street buzz and Internet buzz to get heard so any from of media outlet is a good way too

 

South East Hip Hop:  What are you working on right now?
C. Suave:  I am Working on my current mixtape "Hardly Influenced" with a special surprise DJ that's co-signing it can't give you call the details at this moment but it's gonna be big for Music in General!

 

South East Hip Hop:  What do you have planned for the rest of 2013?
C. Suave:  Dropping the Hardly Influenced mixtape in the early winter Nov. 11 ....dropping my first Music video in the Summer for the first single on the mixtape .... and doing shows all down in south Florida region and also just around the Ga ....hopefully hit some other states in the process after I release the Mixtape

 

South East Hip Hop:  Speaking of the future, where would you like to be within the next 5 years?
C. Suave:  A Grammy - Award winning Artist , with at least Three platinum Albums and 10 Platinum singles with a whole bunch of guest features and a lot of Tour Money while having a lot of Merch out and A Big Record Deal .. while making my own independent label also

 

South East Hip Hop:  Is there anything else you would like to plug? Any shout outs?
C. Suave:  yes , "Hardly Influenced : The Mixtape" coming out Nov.11 2013 ... ALSO be on the lookout for my first music video "Trillion" one of the first singles of the mixtape, and be on the lookout for Da Frat Mixtape at the End of 2013 ....and D.O.E mixtape around the same time .... Special Shouts to the Fans and SOUTHEAST HIPHOPMAGAZINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S DA FRAT N***A!!!!!!

Pusha T. speaks on former G.O.O.D. Music Recording artist Consequence

Pusha T. of G.O.O.D. Music recently gave his opinion on Consequence and his allegations of Pusha T. jacking his rhymes.  Pusha T. describes the feud as "pathetic".

"I just think it's pretty pathetic, man.  It all boils down to royalty, and having certain principles.  Nobody maliciously tries to do anything.  This is a business, and sometimes things don't work --- some artists don't pop, but I don't think you blame the head of that crew for it, especially in a business like this, which is so self-sufficient.  It's really unfortunate, but what can you say?" 

Pusha T also added that no other former G.O.O.D. Music artist has lashed out in this sort of way.
"And might I add this is only one guy [acting this way]. I don't hear anything else about anybody else, and I've seen everybody, from Really D.O.E. (dropped) to GLC (dropped) ... I don't understand it at all," he added. "And if people really, really knew what I saw, like in Hawaii during the making of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, they'd be floored. People don't have a clue how inviting Ye was to everyone to contribute things to the album."
