South East Hip Hop Models: Interview with Sidney Ware of Blacktopia

Jay of South East Hip Hop Magazine recently sat down with model Sidney Ware to discuss her modeling gigs, and the path that brought her into the field among many other things for a quick one on one exclusive South East Hip Hop Magazine interview. Sidney
Ware is also a member of Blacktopia: Black Utopian Society and will be featured in the upcoming "Blacktopian Beauties" segment of the website http://www.blacktopia.org. Read all about what she has to say........

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Hey how are you Sidney Ware?

Sidney Ware: I'm doing well Jay how are you?

South East Hip Hop Magazine: I'm doing well, thanks for asking. How long have you been modeling?

Sidney Ware: I have been in front of the camera off and on for about 10 years.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What inspired you to want to model?

Sidney Ware: Hmm one day I was in Victoria Secrets and a lady walks up to me and asked me have I ever modeled and I said no and it just kinda went from there.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: In your own words, what is "beauty"?

Sidney Ware: Beauty definitely starts from within. Beauty isn't a tangible thing it's literally in the EYE of the beholder.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How would you define your beauty?

Sidney Ware: My beauty is simple. Never too much just enough!! (laughs).

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What was one of the worst experiences you've faced as a model and how did you bounce back from it, or learn from it?

Sidney Ware: I'm going to say being booked for a shoot and getting there and the photographer wants to try you on doing something you're not comfortable with.. i.e. Showing something too revealing. Long story short. I did what I was paid for and nothing more!

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Outside of taking photos, what else do you enjoy?

Sidney Ware: Well I enjoy music.. Travel especially now that my daughter is in college now.. I do some mentoring to teen moms as well.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Outside of Sidney Ware, "the model" how would you describe yourself as a person?

Sidney Ware: (laughs) I'm just a girl with a huge heart!

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Do you have any modeling plans or gigs in the modeling world lined up for 2015?

Sidney Ware: No major gigs lined up thus far.. But I'm working on a calendar that should be complete in a couple of months.

Interview with Monumental J.O.E. (Monumental Movements)

Jay of South East Hip Hop Magazine recently spoke with rapper / music industry mogul Monumental J.O.E. about Monumental Movements, the artists he's working with, the upcoming Monumental Mixtape and more! Read all about what he has to say in the interview below.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How are you doing Monumental J.O.E.

Monumental J.O.E.: I am Monumental thank you for asking.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What makes you so "Monumental", and what does the acronym stand for?

Monumental J.O.E.: Everything I do or say in my everyday practice is to the fullest potential, meaning bigger than big, so that means MONUMENTAL levels. The acronym stands for J.O.E.=Just_One_Empire, which means we are all one and under one empire in this life.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How long have you been rapping?

Monumental J.O.E.: I have been rapping since a young kid, but I mainly started beat boxing first. I can recall being in elementary school and always hearing music in my head so I would make beats with my mouth and that's where it all started. I would eventually beat box for all my homies to rap to since I could hold the beat for the longest and had the cyphers riding out. Those were the days, great fun was had back then.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What inspired you to want to rap?

Monumental J.O.E.: I would say life just brought it out of me along with the rappers I grew up listening to. I finally came to rap seriously when I knew I wanted something better for my family and myself in this life. This is also a form of therapy for me so it all tied together.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who were some of your influences growing up?

Monumental J.O.E.: I have been influenced by every coast, every style, and every artist from the 80's-90's since I really love all sides and styles, But Biggie and Pac were my main influences as far as Artist's go. It may sound cliché but I grew up when they literally changed the game and it was truly Monumental to be in the middle of that era.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who are some of the artists that you listen to now?

Monumental J.O.E.: Action Bronson, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, The Weekend, Ty Dolla Sign.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who are some of the other artists that are down with the Monumental Movement?

Monumental J.O.E.: Bambo (Mr. Triple Threat), Kool Boo Booski, Bear Witness, Switch Tha Weirdoo, Ace, YD, Bronson, Smoke dogg, and Nub.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How would you describe yourself as an artist?

Monumental J.O.E.: I would say I am very versatile, I can be on the hardest track and then turn around and be on the softest love RnB track, I do it all! I have no limits, I have even made a few jingles for a few companies.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What are your plans for the rest of 2015?

Monumental J.O.E.: We have the Monumental Movements Mixtape (self titled) dropping this year, along with 2 more drops, Bambo (the Journey), and MoJo=(Monumental J.O.E.), so it should be interesting.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Monumental J.O.E.: I see my team and I taking our Movement global and being a household name that everyone loves.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What advice would you give other indie artists out here on the grind?

Monumental J.O.E.: Never stop pushing forward no matter what, and I promise you will see results in some shape, form, or fashion!

Interview With Shalanda Williams, A&R for Wu-Tang Management's Protect Ya Neck Records

Jay of South East Hip Hop Magazine recently sat down with Music Industry Professional, Promoter/ Event Planner and A&R for Wu-Tang Management's Protect Ya Neck Records for a one on one in depth exclusive interview to talk about her past, present and future projects, events, involvement with Wu-Management, the upcoming Women Of Power Conference in Raleigh, NC and MORE! South East Hip Hop Magazine: How are you doing Shalanda Williams?

Shalanda Williams: I'm blessed and highly favored.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: You've been apart of the music industry for awhile, when did you start and how long has it been?

Shalanda Williams: I've been doing this music industry thing since October 2013. First event was in December 2013 it bombed then I decided to do a mix tape. We Never Settle was born the release party was in April of 2014 and that's how I met a lot of artists in the area I did a "We Never Settle" 2 and 3 that were all successful.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What inspired you to be apart of this?

Shalanda Williams: The music inspires me. It's my passion and stress reliever I love music it's a part of my daily life always has been since a child.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: You recently got a position working with Protect Ya Neck Records, how did you end up getting the job?

Shalanda Williams: Protect Your Neck records I've known the head of A&R Vega for over a year he has been apart of my growing process and all I've done he saw my work ethic and grind he respected it and asked me to be a part of the team.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How do you feel about your new position?

Shalanda Williams: I love being on the team. I consider it a 2nd family they support and back me up on things in Raleigh. The support level is on empty (laughs) the hate level is on high (laughs) funny, but true so it feels awesome to have support.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What are some of the duties you do and what have you done so far?

Shalanda Williams: I am A&R so my duty is to scout talent and sign it (laughs).

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Who are some of the people you work with at Protect Ya Neck Records?

Shalanda Williams: I have 3 artists I'm assigned to in Atlanta that I adore they are very talented I make sure their projects are released. They have everything in order to be released. We have check lists that have to be completed to get released. I am also a partner in the Wu Tang model division that was just created. We are about to start doing auditions to find models in different cities to represent the brand.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What's some of your favorite Wu-Tang Clan songs?

Shalanda Williams: I have to be honest. I was never a big Wu Tang fan. I loved that song "C.R.E.A.M." though.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Although you weren't a big fan of the Wu-Tang, were there any individual members you happen to like?

Shalanda Williams: Method Man was my favorite member.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What do you plan on doing to help take Protect Ya Neck Records to the top?

Shalanda Williams: Anything I do I take to the next level by giving it my 100 dedication, time and focus. Protect Your Neck has been established since 1993 but this, model division is going to be awesome game changer.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: You also organize events in Raleigh, NC and in other places in the south east region.... do you plan on having Protect Ya Neck Records involved with what you are doing?

Shalanda Williams: Yes they will be involved in my events we are doing a Def Jam /PYN showcase in August as well as the Wu Tang Ice Cream model search. I also have a women's conference coming up in August 21 to 23 In Raleigh NC called women of Perseverance Opportunity Wisdom Education and Resilience. My goal is to change one life at a time thru encouragement education and empowerment I feel if one woman leaves with more than what she came in with we as a committee have won.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Speaking of events, what events do you have coming up soon?

Shalanda Williams: l am a part of the Atlanta underground music academy/awards July 9th to 12th.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What else would you like to tell the readers about you?

Shalanda Williams: I am presenting a award and hosting a event in Atlanta called "Who Got Barz". I'm going to help co host at their Atlanta underground music radio station while I'm there. I'm working hand in hand with Katrina Moore the founder director of the whole AUMA movement I love how they support me and what I have going on I'm blessed to be a part of their movement as well.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Is there anything else you would like to plug? Any shout outs?

Shalanda Williams: Shout out to.... oh Lord bare with me (laughs)... first one goes to South East Magazine for this interview I really appreciate your support Jay. Interview with Az-Iz (#Snowdat!!!!)

South East Hip Hop Magazine recently sat down and had a one on one interview with rising indie hip hop recording artist and current SEHH featured artist Az-Iz. South East Hip Hop Magazine: How are you doing Az-Iz?

Az-Iz: Surprisingly GREAT! If you know the music business, you know that it is a struggle for an artist that is getting started, but I’m finding my way and building a team that I KNOW has what it takes to make it happen. Having great people around you takes a lot of stress off of you as an artist.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Why do you call yourself Az-Iz?

Az-Iz: I was given the nickname by the head of a label I was associated with for several years. The name was given to me because I don’t change. I’m always me and I give it to you as is…hence the name, Az-Iz.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How would you describe yourself as an artist?

Az-Iz: I would start by saying, I am just THAT…an artist. I don’t feel like a lot of kats can honestly say that about themselves and I’m proud that I am a true artist. Beyond that, I am deep, intellectual, conscious and positive, but at the same time, I can still bring you that street mentality, that hood mentality, after all…I was raised by the streets.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: How long have you been rhyming?

Az-Iz: I been rhyming for at least 10 years, but I did not really start taking it seriously as a career until just a couple years ago.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What inspired you to want to rap?

Az-Iz: I realized what it could potentially grow into…what kind of things I could eventually have an impact on…plus, I LOVE it…so, why not? I mean, at the end of the day…who wouldn't want to be a rapper?

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What projects are you working on now?

Az-Iz: Well, I ALWAYS got a LOT of projects in progress. I got to stay busy to stay on top of my game…but immediately, I have “Time Is Money” (Produced by Young Goku) set to release digitally and physically on May 5^th, 2015. I also have another single that will be released a few weeks after that featuring Keyz 2 ThaGame called “Out The Mud” (produced by Brandon Dyer), and I also have my new mixtape titled 2 Weeks Notice coming REALLY soon…probably looking at a mid-May release on the mixtape.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What do you plan to release in the future?

Az-Iz: I plan on doing this for a LONG time, I can tell you this, I plan on winning a Grammy REAL soon.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Speaking of the future, what plans do you have for the rest of this 2015?
Az-Iz: Actually, I got some rather BIG plans for this year. I am currently planning a big campaign out west in Nevada, Arizona, and California. In addition to my new ventures with my singles and my mixtape. Don’t worry, there will be PLENTY of music coming from Az-Iz this year. #snowdat

South East Hip Hop Magazine: You were recently signed to a label, IMF and you recently left the label because of some issues, would you care to discuss any of that with us to inform other artists that may be interested in working with that label?

Az-Iz: As the issue is currently being handled…I am only at liberty to say so much. I will tell you that artists should always do their research, and not just a google search. Try to find artists that have taken that route and gotten results, good or bad, and make your decision based off of that. There are snakes everywhere in this business…it’s no different from the streets. It’s all about being educated on what you’re dealing with. And my recommendation, build your own team.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What is one of the worst experiences you've faced in the industry and how did you learn or bounce back from it?

Az-Iz: Believe it or not, I do not look at the current situation with IMF as a major set back. I only wasted 3 months learning that lesson. No time wasted is ever a benefit, but I did waste over 4 years with a label that was going nowhere, doing nothing for the artist and basically, for all intents and purposes…intentionally holding me back…so that is definitely my worst experience so far.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: What's one of the biggest milestones you've had in your music career so far?

Az-Iz: So far this year, I have distributed my first single, dropped my first 2 videos, been featured in TakeOver Magazine, and not to mention, received HELLA love from the fans and supporters as well as plenty of positive feedback from people I look up to in this business. To me, everything positive is a milestone to remember and help me stay focused and on task.

South East Hip Hop Magazine: Is there anything you would like to plug? Any shout outs?

Az-Iz: First off, shout out to South East Hip Hop Magazine for doing what they do for indie artists… #snowdat Also, I gotta show love to ALL my people… EVERYbody at #GMT (Grown Man Team), it’s more than a movement…it’s a mentality, also, shout out to The Realistik Network and Lee Fleshman for being a mentor to me and REALLY helping me with my career. Shout out to Keyz 2 ThaGame as well for being a mentor to me and also for motivating me through his music. Shout out to Raine 4 Dayz ENT and POTS Ent in Augusta, Georgia for rocking with me and my team and putting us on venues…shout out to my producers, Young Goku of the Talabandz and Brandon Dyer from the U.K. … and as ALWAYS … #salute the fans
