Just Another Day

          I met Baba Zoom through social media which was a few years ago. Not only was I introduced to him as an MC, but, I also had the pleasure of viewing his work. Not only is this man a creative genius behind the lens, he has also become a close friend whose opinion I can depend on.

Here is a brief intro into what makes Baba Zoom a creative inspiration!

Baba Zoom "the beat wizard" is a multimedia movement within himself.  He has been involved with Hip Hop culture and business since the late 80's.  Baba Zoom is an artist in every sense of the word taking form and shape within various aspects and operations of sound, sight and rhythm.  Bringing creative people together in developing and operating numerous systems and platforms in establishing art and culture.  Baba Zoom launched a website called thebeatwizard.com in 2007 to give independent artists a voice and platform in a sea of uniformity and wackness. 

With a good yet short 2 year run thebeatwizard.com set a precedent for independent artists not just talking about doing for self but in executing the vision.  Always intrigued by the lens and the world of cinema Baba Zoom took that step from hobby to career in enrolling in LA Film School in late 2009. With access to camera gear and lighting equipment Baba Zoom took full advantage of this opportunity to practice and experiment with the craft of cinematography.  Slowly making a name for himself with a strong work ethic and a distinct on details Baba Zoom became a go to man for independent artists and record companies. Thus the video production company BZ Filmz was born which makes since making the name of his company an action word and at the same time incorporating his name. Even before graduating from film school with a focus on Cinematography, Directing & Post Production Baba Zoom had worked with artists such as  Aloe Blacc,  ill Camille,  Big2daboy, Coolio, Klymaxx, Junot Joyner of American Idol,Maurice "Wiz Propane" Blake,Magnificent Ruffians & more.

Big K.R.I.T. Announces North American Tour Dates

Big K.R.I.T. is set to kick off his national "Pay Attention"
tour across North America this fall.

The "Return of 4Eva" rapper will begin his concert
trek on Oct. 2 in Charlotte, N.C. The Mississippi-native
released the tour's title track "Pay Attention" late last month,
which features Rico Love, and also jumped
on Rick Ross' current song "Supreme," 
featuring Fabolous and Ma$e.

          A number of years ago I was introduced to a man that goes by the name of Bicycle Tony!
How we became acquainted is a funny story, to say the least, and it all involved Billy Danze from M.O.P.

Tony caught wind that Billy and I had been communicating and discussing Raps United Nations. Tony, who is also a radio DJ/Host, was enthusiastic about having the chance to speak to one of his idols.

After that day Tony and I became really good friends.  Now, he is more then just a friend, he is family!!

This man developed a fan base not only by networking but he has to be one of the most charismatic individuals that I have ever come across.   On my radio show, I get callers who specifically ask for Tony, despite the fact he is the US and i'm in Canada.  He has built a reputation of being one of the best radio personalities in the business and he continues to make his presence known in his community, back home in the Bronx, and around the world.

Due to some health issues, Tony has had to put his show on the back burner, but after his recent visit to New York Tony has decided to get back on the airwaves with full force.

I am so excited to hear what is about to come and to hear my dude back where he is suppose to be!!

Just Another Day...."Listening To His Holy Hip Hop"

Even as a radio host/Dj I tend to listen to other stations just to get a sense of what's out there and what people are listening to. I came across "His Holy Hip Hop Radio" hosted by Evangelist Rock (Mike Bradford of Consuming Fire Global Ministries) featured on RobinLynne's Spreaker Radio Network.

In a day and age where all you hear on the radio is explicit content and music that objectifies women, it was a pleasant change to hear music that is spiritually uplifting, and for today's youth, who are heavily enmeshed in hip hop culture, this offers as an alternative. 

Most people have the preconceived notion that gospel music has a greater impact when sung however I challenge that notion.  Artists such as Lacrae, Just Word, and True Story are among a growing demographic who are giving listeners hope and guidance while sharing stories of our Heavenly Father. Impacting a generation, that's what His Holy Hip Hop Radio provides!

Your name goes without saying but to avoid any confusion : ''Nick'', this one (of what will be many rants) is for you. What was so hard about making another Pete & Pete?  Would it have been so difficult for another Anawanna? Was it so important for you to clean up the companies image , that we now are subjected to humorless penguins and pandas who are trying to learn Kung-Fu? Today I took a listen to Britney J's "All My Love" ft Jibbs.  Normally when I listen to an artist for the first time I prepare for what I am about to hear.  The second I heard Britney lay down her vocals I was thoroughly impressed.  At first I thought I was listening to a Keri Hilson track, as I could here some of that Hilson flavor, then all of a sudden you get hit with Jibbs on the track! I was like Whoa! That was like putting a fresh pair of white laces on some J's. Fresh ta def!! And if that wasn't enough, hearing she opened up for the legendary Babyface is a good indicator that Miss Brittney J is well on her way to becoming that artist that everyone in the world will become familiar with.

Being that I am also an artist, I tend to listen to singers very carefully and am often very analytical when it comes to being on point with vocals and lyrical content.  Britney J smashed this track and has set the tone for what she has got coming out next.  So ladies, and gentlemen, keep a look out for this artist cuz she has got more Flava to put in your ear!!
